Ellis County African American Hall of Fame

The Ellis County African American Hall of Fame is housed in facility built in 1926 for the Colored Knights of Pythias Hall that later became the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge in Waxahachie. Tx.

It open as the Hall of Fame in 2016. The facility is available for community meetings and events.

"The mission of the Ellis County African American Hall of Fame Foundation is to expose all students, teachers, and citizens of Ellis County to new ideas as they explore African American history, encouraging critical thinking and creativity."

Other sites of interest across the street include Freedman Memorial and 8/47 Monument in memory of the 19 men who perished in 1947 in the worst recorded automobile accident in Ellis County.
